Client Project: Bedroom Set Restoration

When Bloom. was asked to collaborate with a local designer on a beautiful bedroom set, we could not have been more excited. When we were told the look was "Hollywood Glam" we were downright thrilled. The client's daughter's room was undergoing a glamorous makeover, with touches of sophisticated elegance and hints of mid century modern flare. We were tasked with transforming two tired, vintage pieces into shining stars. Let's take a look at how the pieces looked when they came to us:

The designer requested a lacquer-like finish with gold accents. Bloom. suggested Benjamin Moore's Advance line which is a water-based, Alkyd paint that offers a perfectly smooth, self-leveling finish. To achieve a shiny, lacquer finish, we selected the "High Gloss" finish. After discussing various color samples with the client, it was decided that the color would be Poolside Blue, a gorgeously rich and stylish shade of turquoise. To achieve the requested, gold-accented hardware, we used a combination of Barkeeper's Friend and slightly damp paper towel to remove years of patina from each piece of hardware. After buffing thoroughly, each piece was sprayed with a protective coat of clear enamel gloss.

The end result here is serious Hollywood Glam. We are super excited to be a part of such a cool room makeover and can't wait to see the completed room design! For now, enjoy some pics of the finished furniture!

Cheers,

Client Project : Coffee Table Refinish

A current client had an adorable, mid century modern style coffee table that she wanted painted to add a pop of color to their formal living room.  The coffee table was in great shape and we knew that a high gloss finish would be perfect for the project.
Here is the before:

After sanding, priming and making a few minor repairs, we sprayed the entire table with our HVLP paint sprayer.  We used a high gloss shade of gray that is the perfect addition to the families beautifully styled living room.

Sometimes the simplest project can be just what a room needs :).  Thanks for reading!

Feature for Sale

As you know, we have been loving the high gloss look of Benjamin Moore's Advance.  We've used it both on the gorgeous Client Project:Dining Table Refinish and on a Full Size Bed Frame that is currently for sale.

The product is amazing to work with and we couldn't wait to use it in another color. When a Mid Century Modern Buffet found it's way into our stock we knew it was perfect for the project!

The clean lines of the piece are really accented by the high gloss finish, and the original brass hardware finish it off perfectly.

Nine drawers, original brass hardware, high gloss gray finish, 72"L x 18"W x 30 1/2"H.

Client Project: Dining Table Refinish

We are absolutely loving high shine finishes right now (you may remember the amazing red lacquer buffet) so we were pumped when another client piece came in with a similar request.  The table our client found wasn't exactly what she had in mind with a dark wood veneer, but was the shape and size she was looking for.  She wanted the new finish to be the perfect shade of white with a high gloss.

While I have hand painted many furniture pieces this was MY first client project using an HVLP
paint sprayer.  I'll admit I was very intimidated by the sprayer but loved the results
you can achieve when using it.  So, I took a deep breath and started spraying.
We are so happy with the results, check out that shine!

The shade of white and the "lacquer like" shine were exactly what our client was looking for. This table is a great addition to her already fabulous dining room!
