Vintage School Desk

A friend recently stumbled upon this little gem and thought it'd be the perfect re-do project for me.  And it just so happens that this little gem is the perfect size for my sweet Livy to use as her creative work-space. She's really into writing her own how-to books these days; it's super cute! The minute she spotted it in the garage she immediately asked me if it was for her.  I smiled and said, "Of course, now lets go pick out some paint!"

She selected two colors of spray paint, all on her own and I was quite surprised at how bright and non "princess" her selections were!  Once we got home, I prepped the entire piece by wiping it down and sanding it with my electric sander and some 120 grit sandpaper.  I painted the wood areas first and when those dried, I covered the wood area using painter's tape and paper.  I then covered the metal area with a good coat of primer and once that dried, I applied 3 coats of my second color.  Once that area was completely dry, I applied one coat of a gloss spray topcoat.

I think the desk will work out perfectly for Liv and it will be used for many years to create masterpiece after masterpiece...
